PLAYER
DEVELOPMENT SERIES (PDS)
This series of clinics are designed for players looking
to learn a solid base of fundamentals and enhance their
current skills. Depending on the clinic, participants are
younger players just starting to learn the game or older
players who are interested in improving their game to increase
their enjoyment of the game. As always, we go beyond fundamentals and the core
building blocks of the game. We also strive to help your son or daughter increase
their confidence, learn sportsmanship and understand the concept of teamwork,
which will provide dividends both on and off the field. |
PDS Baseball
FUNdamentals Skills Clinic For 1st & 2nd Graders
One of our most popular clinics! It is sure to fill
up quickly! 15 players and 3 Instructors Means
a Great 5:1 Student to Teacher Ratio
 These clinics are highly focused on helping young players build
a solid foundation of fundamental skills. The main topics (and
some of the points of emphasis) will include
• Correct throwing motion
• Catching the ball
• Hitting
• Fielding
• How to "Be in the Game"
• Introduction to Pitching
Given the age of these players, time will be spent both reviewing
past material and introducing new skills. We believe in this methodology
because young players can rarely be taught something once and be
expected to master that skill. The clinics are taught by experienced
JGBSA instructors, who are very enthusiastic about teaching the game
of baseball.
New for 2011 – We Have Added an Advanced
Version of this Clinic
This clinic is for players that would benefit from more advanced
training. Players need to have a solid hitting, fielding and throwing
fundamentals. In many cases, the players attended the regular version
last year. If you are not sure, please call and we will be happy
to assist you in choosing the right level.

What is TOTAL BASEBALL?
It's the best way to get your player prepared for the 2011 season. TOTAL BASEBALL is a comprehensive 10 week program that incorporates all of the key elements of the game. We start with a 4 week session on hitting, followed by a 3 week session focusing on fielding. Next up is pitching, in a 3 week session. Each segment also includes what we call strategic baseball—base-running, situational play, bunting and more. Together, TOTAL BASEBALL covers it all.
You do have the option of signing up for any of the 3 sessions individually, but we highly recommend the complete course for the maximum learning experience. All sessions are taught by Joy of the Game professional instructors, who are highly motivated to provide the players with the tools, both physical and mental, they will need to succeed on the field. The clinics also offer low student to instructor ratios to again ensure a focused learning environment. The participants are grouped based on age and ability.
The classes start in January and continue through March. This takes you right up to the start of the 2011 season. Here is the full schedule:
