Back for 2010! Summer Cage Passes
Book Time in Our Batting Cages and Keep Your Swing in the Right Groove!
A Summer Cage Pass is good for June 1st through August 31st. Similar to a JGBSA Membership, it allows the member to reserve 20 minutes per day of time in the batting cages and/or the pitchers mound on a first come, first served basis (family memberships can reserve a time slot for each active family member). Of course, if time is available before or after your reserved time slot, you are welcome to use any open cage or area in the academy.

Buffalo Grove Park District, is happy to offer its
5th Annual Summer Camps at Willow Stream Park in Buffalo Grove

Improve your skills with Joy of the Game Baseball & Softball Academy’s
5th Annual Summer Baseball & Softball Skills Camps. The camps are for players in grades K-6, who will be separated based on age and ability on separate diamonds. Baseball and Softball will also be separated into different camps. Specific instruction and skill development will be led by Joy of the Game’s professional teaching staff. Younger players will be taught proper hitting fundamentals, work on throwing mechanics and correct fielding fundamentals. Older players will focus on advanced skills including hitting, infield and outfield play and situational play. Baserunning and mental approach to the game will also be featured. Each camp features a low student to instructor ratio to ensure personal attention for each camper.

Bonus! Any rain days will be held indoors at the Joy of the Game Baseball & Softball Academy, 1455 Busch Parkway. So there will always be camp – rain or shine!

Campers can sign up by the day or week.

Coach Holbrook's Advanced Hitting Clinic For Travel Players

These clinics are geared for the advanced or travel players. Director of Baseball and Senior Staff Instructor Eddie Holbrook will lead the players in advanced hitting drills and also explore the mental approach successful hitters employ. Players signing up for this clinic should already have good hitting fundamentals. Students will work on situational hitting, learning how to work the count, hit to the opposite field, bunt effectively, and more. Ages 11 and up only. Limit 12 Players.

Baseball Summer School
Go to summer school? Sure, when it’s Baseball Summer School!
We are happy to offer these 4 new weeklong clinics – Hitting, Fielding, Catchers Camp, and All Skills. In each session, the players are grouped based on age and ability.

.400 Club Hitting - the focus is on the core elements of the batter’s swing. Each session will include group instruction followed by drill work in rotating stations. The fundamentals of hitting (stance, stride, swing) will be stressed.

Gold Glove Fielding - players will learn the correct tools, from basic fundamentals the major leaguers review every year to advance techniques for the older players.

Catchers Camp – learn the techniques needed for the most pivotal position on the field. Topics
include proper stance, blocking and throwing techniques as well as the basic responsibilities of the position. This is a great chance for those players interested in and those already playing the position, to learn the proper way to catch.

Each session will be action packed & fun and the kids will take away new tools that will bring their game up to the next level.

Softball Summer School
Go to summer school? Sure, when it’s Softball Summer School!
We are happy to two great clinics led by Director of Softball, Kent Szarabajka.

.400 Club Hitting - the focus is on the core elements of the batter’s swing. Each session will include group instruction followed by drill work in rotating stations. The fundamentals of hitting (stance, stride, swing) will be stressed.

K Zone Pitching - players will learn the correct steps to becoming a successful fastpitch softball pitcher. Coaches will explain grips, delivery and control of different pitches.

Summer Speed Weeks
Speed, Agility, Quickness Training
New for Summer 2010! JGBSA’s Summer Speed Weeks provide baseball & softball players a top of the line training program that incorporates everything necessary to become a better ballplayer.  Speed training allows players to get to and steal bases much faster. Quickness and agility training gives players that faster “first step” to get the ball and make plays in the field.  Each day the players will go through a 15 minute stretching program, one hour of SAQ drills and a 15 minute recovery and cool down period.

The Summer Classic
JGBSA/Hockey Zone Baseball/Hockey Skills Camp
Our Summer Classic Camp combines the sport of summer – baseball, with the best of winter – hockey! In the morning, campers will receive baseball instruction from JGBSA’s professional teaching staff. Younger players will be taught proper hitting fundamentals, work on throwing mechanics and correct fielding fundamentals. Older players will focus on advanced skills including hitting, infield and outfield play and situational play. After lunch, the kids lace up the skates and hit the ice for an action packed afternoon led by the Glacier Hockey Staff. This new camp is sure to become a summer tradition!

Fall Baseball Tune-Up
Today, more and more players are taking advantage of the great fall weather and playing in the numerous fall leagues that have sprung up. That is why we are offering a Fall Baseball Tune-Up. This five (5) day session will help get your game back in the groove and ready for fall baseball. The camp will address high-level skill development and gameplay/situational strategy. The camp will focus on hitting, fielding, pitching, baserunning and so much more. The camp is open to players in grades 3rd -8th and groups will be divided based on age and skill level.
